Chicago rapper, Common, recently debuted his latest single, Blue Sky, from his upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer.
The Chi Town MC released his first single with rapper Nas entitled Ghetto Dreams. Common went on the record with Dj Reflex of The Takeover, Power 106 Los Angeles to speak about his new album. The Midwest hip hop artist noted that music producer No I.D played a major role in the production of the The Dreamer, The Believer. On the forthcoming project, Common explains that working with the producer brings out, “The essence of hip hop with a new sound”. The Dreamer, The Believer sets the stage for Common to return to his hip hop roots with No I.D.’s sample heavy instrumental beats.
Common is also in the midst of launching a TV series entitled Hell On Wheels via AMC (American Movie Classics). The show is scheduled to premier on November 6th at 10 p.m. With a setting in 1865, the rapper describes the show as being about the building of the transcontinental railroad. Common plays a freed slave in the show. He explained that he had to audition for the show, but that it was “well worth it”.
With his book One Day It’ll All Make Sense already in stores, the final months in 2011 look to be very busy for the Grammy award winning artist.
